Dear STIHL Imfolozi MTB Rider,

Thank you so much for joining us on another incredible iMfolozi MTB Challenge this year, an event that allows you to contribute towards ongoing conservation efforts in the park. We are happy to confirm that we had 216 (out of 231) riders that took on the 42km ride through the park on Saturday. While this wasn’t our ideal number, we hope to double this number in 2023 so we can increase the fundraising potential for this unique event for the benefit of the crucial conservation work done by Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife in partnership with WILDTRUST.

As mentioned by WILDTRUST CEO Dr Roelie Kloppers on Saturday evening, a huge THANK YOU goes to our title sponsor, STIHL, for their continued support through the tough economic climate. Another thank you goes to National Edging, who also came on board to assist in keeping this event afloat. A special mention goes to the Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife Honorary Officers for their incredible effort in preparing the campsites, looking after riders on route and ensuring everyone’s safety throughout the weekend.

We would also like to highlight the donation of chains for the dehorning chainsaws for the Game Capture team from STIHL. As Dumisane Zwane mentioned, through support from STIHL, they have dehorned over 700 rhino across the reserve, over the past 5 years. Dehorning doesn’t harm the rhino in any way and it is currently the most successful strategy in deterring poachers from the reserve.
