The event is filled with unique and wonderful experiences, including a sundowners session overlooking one of the biggest wilderness areas in Africa, bacon and egg rolls on Sunday at the water table, top end water table offerings, the chance to see the Big 5 while on your bike, and the ability to camp within iMfolozi park – a privilege only granted as special permission during an event by KZN Wildlife. The Event

The iMfolozi MTB Challenge takes place in Hluhluwe – iMfolozi Game Reserve on 29th and 30th June.

Entry Fee

ENTRIES WILL OPEN ON Thursday 25th January 2024 at 09h00.

The entry fee will be R1375.00 per person and is payable online.  Additional purchases can be made online for the meals for each night.

This fee includes the following:

  • Entry to 2 days of awesome bushveld mountain biking (40km day 1, 15km day 2)
  • Safety and security on route
  • Medical provision on route
  • Water tables on each day
  • Sundowners session
  • Live music on Saturday evening

* Please note that non-riders will be required to pay gate access fees on arrival at the Nyalazi Gate.
** Please note that the entry fee does not include your accommodation.  This needs to be chosen and booked separately.

Spectators who would like to ride Day 2 only, have the option to do this should course by making a donation of R450 on the morning of the ride at the race village.

Catering

Catering is an added option to include in your entry online.  Dixon Caterers provide a wonderful spread for Dinner on Friday and Saturday nights, with an array of offerings for all pallets, including vegetarian. These meals can be booked online with your entry.

Meals

Meals can be purchased online with your entry.  A professional catering company, Dixon Caterers, who have catered this event for some time, will offer dinner on Friday night and Saturday night for purchase, plus offer meals during the day (which can be bought on site).  Meal details are as follows:

Friday Dinner (R180pp)
Hearty beef or vegetarian lasagne, variety of fresh salads, bread rolls and desert.

Saturday Dinner (R200pp)
Our famous iMfolozi Spit night, with a lamb on the spit, roast chicken, roast potatoes, three fresh salads, fresh rolls and desert.

Fundraising

All funds donated towards this event are channelled towards WILDTRUST’s support of the Wildlife Crimes Unit headed by Park Manager, Amos Tembe. These funds assist with support for the rangers on the front line as well as enable successful investigation and arrests in conjunction with Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife and the SAPS.

Refund Policy

Should the event be cancelled due to COVID government imposed regulations, then all entries shall receive a 90% refund on the entry fee.  The bank and online fee is unfortunately non-refundable.  Should the event be cancelled for any other reason other than negligence on behalf of the organisers, or should a rider not be able to make the event for whatever reason, including illness, then the following refund policy will be applied:

More than 90 Days         –             80% refund

60-90 Days                       –             50% refund

30-60 Days                       –             30% refund

0-30 Days                         –             10% refund
